A mistake....?

During a discussion about all sorts of shit a while back a friend entertained the notion that maybe our existence was separate from that of nature's and that self-replicating organisms were just some kind of accident. Contro to the versial I hear you cry.

Yes, what if, all of this, everything we've built, everything we've achived was just a mistake? What if it was never meant to happen? The planet would probably be in a better condition without all of our abuse. But if we weren't supposed to exist, what was? And who decided all this? God one might say....

Which brings me neatly onto a conversation that was on a television program earlier. Some say that God watches everything we do, and these two characters were discussing this idea. The first man, the cynical apparently atheist one was asking how God could just watch us do the things we do and allow the evil to occur that plagues the world. The other man retorted with the proposal that God gave us freedom to which Man 1 replied something along the lines of such freedom being the freedom to destroy, maim, kill, rape and committ all these atrocious thing and he asked Man 2 how he could believe in God after seeing all the things that he has seen. So Man 2 replied with "The question is, how can you believe in man?"

Hmmmmm.......
