I came up with that phrase. Sounds like a chinese proverb, probably is so apologies if I've ripped anyone off.
I was originally gonna come online hours ago and rant about how fucked up the world is (don't worry I will), but that mission was interrupted with impeccable timing by something with makes me think no matter how much you think you've got life sussed, something will come flying round the corner and throw everything back into the beautiful chasm of chaos.
Anyway, I was in a good mood all day because it was friday, it was the weekend and the longest possible time until I had to go to work again and I came home, had a nice dinner and then watched Ong-Bak, which despite its comedic instances, inspired me with determination to better myself.
Then.....I watched the news.
And it put me in such a bad mood I didn't know what to do with myself. Firstly that a war with/in Iran seems more likely by the day, and somehow I don't think its a coincidence that the countries previously invaded by the US happen to be on either side of Iran, which also just happens to be the fourth largest oil exporter in the world. All of this seems trivial compared to what came next....
....They were discussing the trial of six men accused of raping two teenage girls, murdering one and trying unsuccessfully to kill the other. This horrific thing happened right here in my home town last year! Firstly how a group of people could so placidly pre-meditate such a thing and then carry it out, is far beyond me, but then also that if these six men are the guilty parties, how they could seriously put forward a plea of not-guilty. What lawyer could ever possibly wish to defend them? No amount of money or recognition could justify it and as for the crime itself, what possible motivation could drive anyone to such acts?
I know what you're thinking, this kind of thing has happened before all over the world, and I'm fully aware of this fact, but I'm sickened by it all. It confirms my worst fears about humanity, that "the reward of good and evil is like the shadow following the substance".
For our good nature cannot exist free from its antithesis
Peace Out
